Manomay's exhibit at Holiday Boutique CAFAM, Los Angeles

What is CAFAM?

The (CAFAM) Craft & Folk Art Museum engages people through its diverse exhibitions and programs that challenge established ideas about craft and folk art and inspire a sense of inquiry and creativity within all people.

Serving Los Angeles for over forty years in the city’s historic Miracle Mile district, the Craft & Folk Art Museum is the only institution in Los Angeles exclusively dedicated to celebrating contemporary and traditional craft and folk art. Founded as a popular art gallery and restaurant in 1965, “The Egg and the Eye” became a not-for-profit museum in 1973. In the decades that followed, The Craft & Folk Art Museum solidly established its position as a primary exhibition and research entity in Southern California for folk art and craft. As Los Angeles developed as an important international art center, the Craft & Folk Art Museum continued to present indigenous global art forms and to support the careers of now well-known craft artists including Sam Maloof, Otto and Vivika Heino, and Beatrice Wood.

CAFAM was kind enough to invite Manomay to exhibit our products for a holiday bazaar. The bazaar which is hosted by them every year around November is a great time for vendors like us to show & sell their work to clients who are in full mood to shop for the holidays. So its a win win both ways! We had great fun at the bazaar, sold some stuff, met other vendors, spoke to few clients and more than anything simply enjoyed the most beautiful creative work around that one could find.

Etsy Treasuries

10/18/2012 9:13 PM

Etsy - A market place that sells hand crafted items ranging from jewelry to clothes to home decors, thats right, everything is handmade!

The team at Manomay would like to share that, etsy is the first place we started selling jewelry and accessories before we created our small shop online at manomayjewelry.com

The shop still exists on Etsy and here is the link: http://ramyap.etsy.com

Apart from all the cool and lovely items they sell on etsy, we in particular like a concept that Etsy publishes on their home page - The Treasury!  Treasury is a set of item that you are your favorites, you group them and call them a treasury with some creative name. Here is one that we pick for you to see!

Simple Thanksgiving recipe Ideas

11/22/2011 11:00 AM

Hello readers,

Holidays are here and so are mom's busy schedule of shopping, sending holiday cards, inviting family and more than anything prepare for the delicious thanksgiving dinner.

Thanksgiving day can get so stressful sometimes, with so much food to cook you are also under the pressure of making / serving them all the perfect way. For those ladies who are not so much into intense cooking (like myself) :) here are some cooking ideas that can still feel holiday like but are extremely simple to make them.

Some of my favs which are also vegetarian are:

Vegetarian Pot pie

Sweet Potato pie ** (Desert)

Carrot & Parsnips (sweet glazed)

Stuffed Brie ** (Desert)

Today I will share with you all the most simple of these - Glazed Carrot & Parsnip

Directions:

Glazed Carrot Parsnips

Doesnt it look yum?? Trust me, it is really yummy. The meat lovers can use this as a great side specially with fish.

P.S. IF YOU FEEL THE VEGETABLES NEED MORE COOKING JUST THROW THEM IN THE OVEN PREHEATED AT 350 FOR ABOUT 15 MINS.

Happy Cooking !!!

Picures speak a thousand words.

- This is so true for online shopping businesses. You can make & break a sale by a picture. Uploading clear, bright, real pictures of the products goes a long way in online shopping sites. Online business owner, please spend enough time & energy to create the best product photos.

Here are a few tips:

- Try and take pictures with innovate background instead of the traditional whites.

- I wait for sunlight and take in natural light, I dont use any ez cube or special lightings, & hey you know what. it is cheap and works great

- Jewelry pictures needs to be clear, so use the macro option of your camera to take close ups of the jewelry. (show emphasis on beads, materials, clasps used etc.)

And hey thats it. These 3 tips are just enought to produce great pictures.

Add a Vintage touch by using the Sephia mode of PhotoShop / PhotoShop Elements.

BEFORE:

Image normal mode

AFTER:

Headband in Sephia mode

I used Elements and this is what I did to create a retro mode on the below head band picture. It is QUICk & EASY trick.

1. Open the image in Photoshop Elements

2. Go to Image-> Adjust Color -> Color Variations

3. Adjust the Color Intensity Slider one level down

4. Choose Increase Red, Decrease Blue.

5. Optionally you can play with the options to get the hue you want,

Thats it. Save the pic and you have a retro looking version of your product !!!!

Happy Photography & Photograph Editing !!! :)
